Log book for Lt D.W. Gay - 11-12 April 1945
This page from Lt. Gay's Log Book covers his flying experiences from 11-12 April 1945.
Operation 33 was an attack on enemy field guns, but despite carrying out a dummy run the bombs missed to the left.
Operation 34 was an attack on troop concentrations (reported as 29th SS Panzer but probably the 29th Waffen Grenadier Division (1st Italian), a unit formed in the German's puppet Fascist state in northern Italy). The target was obscured by 10/10 cloud and no attack could be made.
Many thanks to Martin Hampton, the son in law of Lt. Gay, for sending us this material.
